Voters will decide whether to keep two California Supreme Court justices, Joshua Groban and Kelli Evans, and 11 justices of the First District Court of Appeal, which covers Solano County. These are yes-or-no votes, with no opposing candidates.
We found no misconduct, disciplinary action, or organized opposition involving any of these justices. Retention votes exist to remove judges who are unfit for the bench, not to punish them for individual rulings voters may disagree with. Absent a specific concern about a judge’s conduct or fitness, we recommend voting Yes on all of them.
